I often am tasked with concocting a special pattern for a specific species that someone is after for a trip of a lifetime. Some of these customers become lifelong customers and even friends. In the case of the Rooster Candy, author, researcher and angler Tom Boyd reached out several years ago for his project on Rooster Fish and devising ways to catch them. Although we came up with a few other flies that worked, this particular one has been one of the best.
This fly represents the Sardine De Gallo, one of their favorite meals.
